PRODUCT OVERVIEW:
Los Vascos is owned by the Rothschild family of the first-growth property in Bordeaux's Pauillac AOC, Château Lafite-Rothschild. Seeking to expand their empire in the New World, they spent years researching and exploring wine regions south of the equator.
Enchanted with the Colchagua Valley's micro-climate, which, with its proximity to the sea and wide diurnal temperature variation, is perfect for the cultivation of fine wine grapes, they purchased Viña Los Vascos in 1988 and spent the next several years modernizing the winemaking facility and renovating the vineyards. Today's offer demonstrates that the Lafite-Rothschild winemaking team knocks it out of the park no matter the price point or location.
Today's wine is crafted from 100% cabernet sauvignon and is aged in stainless steel in order to showcase the wine's opulent fruit profile. Juicy and medium-to-full-bodied, it offers intense aromas and flavors of strawberries, cherries, fresh figs, and especially ripe raspberries with layers of mint, basil, spices, and pepper.
This particularly cool year boosted the expression and juiciness of this wine, with tannins that reflect the cool temperatures of the season. (winery notes)

90 points, James Suckling:
"Lots of red fruit here with redcurrants, cherries, and currant leaves. Juicy, medium-bodied palate with fresh acidity and a strawberry-driven finish." (4/24/23)
