PRODUCT OVERVIEW:
Los Vascos is owned by the Rothschild family of the first-growth property in Bordeaux's Pauillac AOC, Château Lafite-Rothschild. Seeking to expand their empire in the New World, they spent years researching and exploring wine regions south of the equator. After (quite literally) putting down roots in the Colchagua Valley for the purpose of crafting New World Bordeaux-styled wines, they looked to increase their holdings in order to make wines from other noble grapes. Today's offer demonstrates that the Lafite-Rothschild winemaking team knocks it out of the park no matter the price point, location, or varietal.
The 2022 Los Vascos Chardonnay is crystalline and bright yellow with golden notes. On the nose, fruit aromas such as banana, papaya, and pineapple stand out, joined by white flowers and grapefruit. It has surprising balance between freshness and complexity, with volume and tension that makes it pleasant and easy to drink. (winery notes)

91 points, James Suckling:
"A pure, fresh, and restrained chardonnay here with a creamy edge to the lemon zest. A touch of cantaloupe. Creamy, medium-bodied palate with fresh acidity and a composed, supple mouthfeel." (4/24/23)
