PRODUCT OVERVIEW/REVIEW:
The 2021 Estate Grown Morning Fog Chardonnay is named for the morning coastal fog pushed by Pacific wind streams into the bowl of the San Francisco Bay. This daily phenomenon moderates the climate to produce excellent, beautifully balanced chardonnay. The Wente family was the first in California to produce a varietally-labeled chardonnay from the Wente clone. Today, the Wente clone is planted in many of California's finest chardonnay vineyards.*
Today's wine was fermented in a combination of neutral French oak barrels and stainless steel tanks. Blended with 5% gewürztraminer and lees-aged for five months, it bursts with aromatics of citrus and green apple complemented by hints of toasty oak and vanilla from barrel-aging. This wine is balanced by a lingering minerality and natural acidity to create a beautiful wine.*

92 points, Tasting Panel:
"Nectarine, peach blossom, and chamomile generously spread across the palate. Midpalate notes of papaya and gardenia develop into a tropical paradise, followed by a caress of vanilla custard on the balanced finish."
90 points, Wine Enthusiast Magazine:
Lively aromas of jasmine and pineapple are tropical, yet show restraint on the nose of this bottling. Those tropical elements add flavors of coconut and plumeria on the palate, as the vibrant acidity causes the wine to dance across the tongue."
90 points, Wine Spectator:
"This finds a remarkable balance between juicy lemon and pineapple flavors and notes of spice and toast, which show a touch of vanilla paste. The harmony between these elements really sings on the fresh, vibrant finish."
