Established in 1921 by Baptiste Dutheil and currently managed by René Couly and his wife Madeleine Dutheil, the House of Couly-Dutheil has become virtually synonymous with Chinon and is widely believed to be one of the finest producers in the region. With only 90 hectares planted in Chinon (as well as an additional 7 hectares in neighboring Saumur-Champigny) the family has the time to lavish the vines with attention and craft wines with the utmost care.
The 2025 Couly-Dutheil Chinon René Couly Rosé has aromas of wild strawberries, raspberries, and red currants layered with hints of rose petals, citrus zest, and a subtle mineral undertone. The palate is light- to medium-bodied with lively, refreshing acidity. Flavors of ripe strawberries and raspberries are balanced by notes of grapefruit and crisp minerality. The wine’s dry profile and fine texture, along with a slight herbal note typical of Cabernet Franc, add depth and structure. The finish is clean, long, and mineral-driven, with lingering citrus and berry notes.
