PRODUCT OVERVIEW:
I Greppi was founded on the Tuscan coast in 2001 by two of Tuscany’s most famous winemaking families, the Cancellieris and Landinis. The estate stretches over 14 hectares planted a stone’s throw from the Bolgheri coastline in the spiritual homeland of the Super Tuscan movement. The farm’s proximity to water creates the ideal conditions for extended ripening: Ventilation from the sea helps to cool the fruit during the summer months and keep the grape bunches dry and healthy (free from mildew or rot). Biodiversity among the vines is bolstered by the presence of two human-made lakes on the estate. Not only do they help to increase the presence of insects and other animals, but they also help to cool the vineyards in summer.*

Aged for 13 months in seasoned French oak barrels, the Greppicante is a blend of Merlot (50%), Cabernet Sauvignon (10%), and Cabernet Franc (40%) made in the classic Super Tuscan style, bold and rich in flavor and texture.* It offers a panoply of aromas and flavors; cassis, blackberry, and black raspberry dominate, with accents of brambly earth, savory herbs, and a hint of woodsmoke adding complexity. Firm tannins and moderate acidity give the wine structure and balance. Check out the press!

93 points, James Suckling:
"Aromas of cherries, smoke, and some toffee. It’s medium-to-full-bodied with firm, polished tannins and a juicy finish." (4/28/21)
