Made with monastrell (mourvèdre) grapes from old vineyards with low yields and planted in limestone and chalky soils, the 2021 Juan Gil Silver Label Monastrell is deep purple/black in color, with explosive aromas of ripe currants, red berries, and hints of woodsmoke. Rich, powerful, and silky-smooth on the palate, it is redolent with blackberries and black raspberries layered with notes of vanilla, toast, and baking spices. Juicy acidity lends freshness and balance.

The 2021 Juan Gil (silver label) feels more harmonious, complex, and deep than the 2020; it's longer and more elegant, very clean. It has similar parameters but the perception is fresher.
