The Kaesler vineyards were owned and operated by the Kaesler family from 1893 to 1986. In 1999, renowned agribusiness entrepreneur Ed Peter and winemaker Reid Bosward purchased the property and regenerated the old vines.*

Having access to premium old-vine fruit, the winemaking team set out to produce bold estate juice that epitomized Barossa Valley wines. The intensity of the old vine shiraz was the inspiration behind the production of several of their signature cuvées, including "The Bogan." A 5-star James Halliday-rated winery, Kaesler consistently produces wines that garner great reviews from the wine press and legions of fans from all over the world.*

"The Bogan" is a full-bodied shiraz produced from an assemblage of estate vines planted in 1899 and 1965. Aged for 16 months in French oak barrels, it has aromas
of mulberry, blackberry and plum with a touch of sweet spice. The palate is full-bodied, with sweet plums, red and black fruit characters, and a well-integrated
tannin and oak mix that takes you through to the finish.*

93 points, James Halliday's Wine Companion:
"The wonderfully named "The Bogan" Shiraz from Kaesler hails from 2 vineyards planted in 1899 (Marananga) and 1965 (Nuriootpa). As the name suggests, it's a full-bodied, sinewy Barossa shiraz of substantial clout. Dark plum and blackberry fruits dredged deep with spice, licorice, and dark chocolate. There's a sense of latent power and throaty, grainy tannins chug under the bonnet. Substantial."

92 points, Decanter:
"Dark and rich with spicy, forward fruit. Butterscotch caramel oak notes mingled with juicy fruit and racy acidity. Vanilla spice with fine, creamy tannins on the decadent finish."

92 points, Robert Parker's Wine Advocate:
"The 2020 "The Bogan" Shiraz is bright, juicy, and succulent; the fruit in the mouth finishes soft and rounded. A flood of flavor. The 15% alcohol shows on the nose but is largely swallowed up on the palate by the fruit, a blessed thing. There is an attractive splay of raspberries, licorice, and exotic spice through the finish."
