PRODUCT OVERVIEW/REVIEW:
The 2021 Estate Grown Morning Fog Chardonnay is named for the morning coastal fog pushed by Pacific wind streams into the bowl of the San Francisco Bay. This daily phenomenon moderates the climate to produce excellent, beautifully balanced chardonnay. The Wente family was the first in California to produce a varietally-labeled chardonnay from the Wente clone. Today, the Wente clone is planted in many of California's finest chardonnay vineyards.*
Today's wine was fermented in a combination of neutral French oak barrels and stainless steel tanks. Blended with 5% gewürztraminer and lees-aged for five months, it is rich and full, with aromas of lemon peel and green apple that follow through on the toasty oak and vanilla-tinged palate. Juicy acidity and a touch of steely minerality add depth and complexity.*

90 points, Wine Enthusiast Magazine:
"There's a steely edge to the pear, apple, and crisp pineapple aromas on the nose of this bottling. The palate sizzles with acidity and offers a touch of grip, with key lime pie flavors most prevalent." (10/1/22)
