Legendary Tuscan winemaker Piero Antinori wanted to take his expertise to the New World. His search led him to the Haras de Pirque estate based in the Maipo Valley, which at that time was a thoroughbred horse breeding farm nestled in the Andes Mountains. He saw that the region's terroir gave it the the goods to bring forth wines of exceptional depth and finesse. He was so right, as evidenced by today's terrific offer.
The 2024 Albaclara Sauvignon Blanc is sourced entirely from the Leyda Valley, a small appellation located west of the Maipo Valley. Here, the cooling effects of the Pacific Ocean, wide diurnal temperature variations, and soils of clay and loam over granite bring forth wines that are loaded with character. Aromas of mineral-laced citrus fruits lead to a palate resplendent with flavors of peaches, Mandarin oranges, passionfruit, and lemon zest. Subtle layers of herbs and wet stone add complexity; vibrant acidity balances out the ripe fruit characters and brings the wine to a long finish.
