Los Vascos is owned by the Rothschild family of the first-growth property in Bordeaux's Pauillac AOC, Château Lafite-Rothschild. Seeking to expand their empire in the New World, they spent years researching and exploring wine regions south of the equator. Enchanted with Chile and its various terroirs and micro-climates, they purchased Viña Los Vascos in 1988 and spent the next several years modernizing the winemaking facility and renovating the vineyards.
Today's wine is crafted from 100% Sauvignon Blanc sourced exclusively from the Casablanca Valley, which is ideal for the cultivation of this noble varietal because of its proximity to the cooling influences of the Pacific Ocean. Stainless-seel fermented and lees-aged in order to achieve a balance between acidity and texture, it has aromas and flavors of Honeydew melon, key lime, lychee, and lemon verbena, with a rich, round mid-palate and a bright finish.
