Introduction:
Located east of Rioja and Navarra and nestled between the Sierra de Moncayo and the Ebro River Valley, Campo de Borja has the ideal terroir for the cultivation of Garnacha, its flagship varietal. Bodegas Borsao is a collective of 375 grape farming families, whose 2100 hectares of vineyards are located in the foothills of the Moncayo Mountains.

The Moncayo creates a unique environment for the vineyards, regulating the climate with cold and windy winters with an Atlantic influence, and warm summers with a Mediterranean influence. The region features clay-limestone soils with good drainage, rocky terraces, and the cooling “Cierzo” wind.  The vineyards are dry-farmed. These conditions bring forth fruit with deeply concentrated flavors and balancing acidity.*

Tasting notes:
The 2024 Bodegas Borsao Garnacha Tinto Joven is crafted primarily with Garnacha and blended with small amounts of Syrah and Tempranillo. It has aromas of raspberries and cherry compote layered with subtle white pepper spice and a touch of loam. The palate is medium-bodied, with flavors of cherries, black raspberries, and blackberries supported by moderate acidity and smooth, mellow tannins. A whisper of spice and earthiness adds depth without overwhelming the fruit. The finish is clean and persistent, with the fruit characters lingering alongside a faint peppery note and soft mineral dust.

Food Pairing Suggestions:

  • Meat dish: Grilled pork chops, herb-roasted chicken, or chorizo and pepper skewers

  • Vegetarian option: Tomato-herb pasta, roasted vegetable tart, or pepper & goat cheese crostini
