PRODUCT OVERVIEW:
Its reputation sealed as one of the greatest viticultural regions for Sauvignon Blanc, Marlborough, New Zealand is also an up-and-coming Pinot Noir destination. Marlborough's abundant sunshine, wide diurnal temperature variations, free-draining soils, and cooling ocean breezes are just what this noble grape needs to transform into gorgeous wine.
We have some forward-thinking winemakers to thank for going off the well-trod path and forging a new one with pinot noir, and David Clouston is taking Marlborough pinot to the next level. Once an aspiring winemaker, he spent over 22 years honing his craft abroad; upon his return, he made his dream a reality and established a winery of his own.
Today's wine has lifted floral aromas of violets and wild thyme combined with red fruits and savory earthiness. The medium-bodied palate has crushed raspberries and bright red cherry flavors interlaced with forest floor, coffee bean, and bramble nuances. It has a focused frame and a spicy backbone. Velvety tannins and a firm structure will ensure that it ages gracefully. (winemaker notes)
