Cave de Lugny is a cooperative of 400 grape growers in the Mâconnais dedicated to the preservation of winemaking traditions in the region through the production of top-notch wines. Established in the 1800s and comprising three wineries, the cooperative has been instrumental in the establishment of the Mâconnais as a worthy producer of Burgundian Chardonnay. Today's wine is a testament to its high standards.
The 2017 Cave de Lugny La Côte Blanche is a classic French Chardonnay with aromas of white flowers and citrus fruits and a medium-bodied palate of lemon peel, red apple, peach and the merest hint of minerality. Vanilla-tinged creaminess on the mid-palate is bookended by lively acidity. This is a phenomenally good Chardonnay that will appeal to all-manner of Chardonnay lovers because of its weight, terroir-driven complexity, and crisp finish.
