Richard Reymond is the man behind the Sancerre bearing his name. From a winemaking family, he named this wine after his grandfather Lucien, who practiced his craft in the Rhône Valley but yearned to make wine in Sancerre. While he never realized that dream, Richard made this accomplishment in his honor, and today's wine is an homage to him.
Working as a négociant, Richard sourced premium fruit from a certified organic (and biodynamic) grower with holdings throughout the region.
Aged sur-lie in tanks for 12 months before bottling, today's Sancerre is layered and complex, deftly balancing lush texture and weight with bright acidity. Citrus and stone fruit aromas lead to a palate with flavors of grapefruit, peaches, Honeydew melons, mango, and a touch of honeysuckle. A thread of stony minerality is woven throughout the fruit flavors, a nod to the wine's Kimmeridgian origins. The finish is long, bright, and satisfying.
