Dave Phinney (of Painted Scars fame) sealed his reputation with the establishment of Orin Swift winery in the Napa Valley, and continued his success with Department 66, located in France's Languedoc-Roussillon region. He then set his sights on acquiring land in Santa Barbara Country and purchased Our Lady of Guadalupe Vineyards in 2015. He planted vines after 2 years of improving the health of the soils with compost, gypsum, lime, and nitrogen-fixing cover crops.* This, coupled with the region's abundant sunshine tempered by ocean breezes and fog, bring forth exquisite wines.

Made from the Old Wente Chardonnay clone and aged for 9 months in a combination of new (70%) and seasoned French oak, the 2023 OLG Chardonnay abounds with aromas of Ripe Meyer lemon, apricot, crème brulée, wet stone, brioche, and a touch of Marcona almond. The palate is deeply layered with notes of lemon custard, white peach, and orange pith that ripple with tension and density. Concentrated through the finish, the wine closes with a touch of praline and mouthwatering acidity.*

96 points, Vinous:
"The 2023 Chardonnay Our Lady of Guadalupe Vineyard is an explosive, fully fleshed-out wine that channels its measured power in an intensely grippy, polished package. There's so much stuffing here, all with an overtone of saline Santa Rita Hills minerality. The Chardonnay is bright, juicy and rich with nutty accents to its slightly tropical citrus fruit, ginger and lifted white flower tones. It's a big, plush, creamy white that is undeniably attractive in every way. Fabulous...and already perfectly integrated."

94 points, Jeb Dunnuck:
"Barrel fermented and aged nine months in 70% new French oak, the 2023 Chardonnay Our Lady Of Guadalupe Vineyard offers a classic Chardonnay nose of ripe citrus, brioche, floral oil, spicy oak, and pineapple. It has medium-bodied richness, a layered mouthfeel, integrated acidity, and a great finish. It's a beautiful ripe, sexy Chardonnay with tons to love. I like it today yet see no reason it shouldn't evolve for 7-8 years. Drink 2025-2033."

93 points, Wine Enthusiast:
"Baked apple, chamomile and white flower aromas introduce the nose to this bottling from a newer property owned by legendary NorCal winemaker Dave Phinney. There's a waxy, grippy texture to the palate, where exotic flavors of yuzu balm and brisk pear meet with a rising acidity and chalky finish."
