Auntsfield Estate is the site of New Zealand's very first vineyard and was purchased by Graeme and Linda Cowley, who, with the help of their sons Ben and Luc, re-established the 65-hectare property as one of the country's premier locations for top-notch New Zealand wines. It is located in the Southern Valley, which is a bit cooler and drier than the rest of Marlborough. The weather provides a long growing season for the grapes, which allows them to develop ultra-ripe fruit characters, and the Greywacke rock and Loess clay soils impart minerality and structure to the finished wines.
The 2023 Auntsfield Estate Single Vineyard Sauvignon Blanc has vibrant passionfruit, ripe citrus, and zesty lime aromas. The palate is redolent with luscious passion fruit, white peach, and bright citrus, balanced by minerality and structured tension. Lively character and textured balance leave a lasting impression.
