The Château Hyot Castillon Côtes de Bordeaux Réserve is made by the Aubert family, who has been crafting wine in Bordeaux since before the French Revolution and owns estates in seven Bordeaux appellations. It is a blend of 70% merlot, 20% cabernet franc, and 10% cabernet sauvignon from 40-year-old vines grown in gravel and clay-limestone soils. Medium-to-full-bodied, it beautifully balances fruit, terroir, and acidity, with aromas and flavors of black currants and black cherries laced with accents of baking spices, gravel, cedar, and the merest hint of woodsmoke.
