The small, family-owned wineries that dot the landscape in Sancerre may fly under the radar of many consumers and members of the wine press, but they make the very best Sancerres, thanks to their unwavering dedication to their craft and intimate knowledge of their terroir. Such is the case with Domaine Bailly-Reverdy. Established in 1952 and currently under the care of Franck Bailly and his nephew Aurélien, its 28 hectares of vineyards in Sancerre and Pouilly-Fumé are farmed sustainably, without the use of chemicals and herbicides, to preserve the purity of fruit and terroir in the finished wines.

2024 Domaine Bailly-Reverdy Sancerre "Le Pierre de la Chapelle" is a cuvée that showcases the terroir by blending grapes from different soil types, including limestone, clay, and flint. Fermented in stainless steel with native yeasts and briefly lees-aged with just 5% neutral oak, it is well-textured yet infused with vibrant acidity. It has aromas of citrus fruits interwoven with mineral nuances, followed by a palate of lemon zest and grapefruit laced with subtle hints of Spring herbs, crushed stone, and flint. The finish is long and bright, with lingering notes of lemon and stone.
