Dan and Margaret Duckhorn established their winery back in 1976 with the goal of becoming one of the premier producers of wine in the Napa Valley. Acquisition of some of the best vineyards sites in both the Napa Valley and Howell Mountain AVAs very quickly proved to be a key element in their success. From their modest inaugural vintage, which only produced about 800 cases, they managed to captivate the attention of wine lovers the world over with their exquisite cabernets and merlots. To this day, their magnificent wines are widely praised by critics, sommeliers, and collectors.

The 2018 Duckhorn Vineyards Merlot Napa Valley is crafted from 82% merlot, 16% cabernet sauvignon,1.4% cabernet franc, .4% petit verdot, and .2% malbec sourced from the Carneros, Oak Knoll, Calistoga, Napa Valley, and Yountville AVAs. From its tempting aromas of ripe cherry and black raspberry to its sweet, dusty tannins and supple texture, this is a lush and expansive expression of Napa Valley merlot. Luxurious flavors of black plum, rhubarb crumble, and chocolate-covered raspberry mingle with hints of graphite and clove on the long, vibrant finish. (winery notes)
