Frog's Leap proprietor John Williams has an impressive winemaking resume dating back over 40 years, cutting his teeth at Stag's Leap and Spring Mountain Wineries before striking out on his own. The 2023 Frog's Leap Rutherford Cabernet is a testament to passion and superior craftsmanship as well as an idyllic marriage of grape varietals and terroir. Sourced primarily from the Rutherford Bench, blended with 4% Cabernet Franc, and aged for 20 months in a combination of new (26%) and seasoned French oak, it has aromas of black fruits, graphite, and savory herbs followed by a lushly-textured palate of cassis, blackberries, and black cherries laced with accents of dried sage, cocoa powder, tobacco, and cedar.

This is a classic Rutherford Cabernet crafted with balance over excess in mind, emphasizing purity of fruit, natural acidity, and fine-grained tannins, with oak used to support rather than dominate.*
