The Nicolis family winery, founded in 1951, employs organic farming practices throughout its 42 hectares of vineyards in the Valpolicella Classico zone, located partly on the estate in San Pietro and partly in the hills overlooking the town. No herbicides, pesticides, or fungicides are used. All wines are produced using ambient yeast, making them some of the purest expressions of Valpolicella viticulture found in the market today. Winemaker Giuseppe Nicolis is the second generation of the family to make wine on this small, family-owned and managed estate. (importer notes)

The 2020 Nicolis Valpolicella Classico is a blend of native varietals corvina (65%), rondinella (25%), and molinara (10%) sourced from the traditional Classico viticultural zone in Valpolicella, where the soil has exceptional drainage and the vines drink in abundant sunshine. Fermented and aged in stainless steel, it is medium-to-full-bodied, with floral-tinged red fruit aromas and a palate redolent with brambly black cherries, strawberry preserves, and red plums, with accents of savory herbs and stony minerality. Bright acidy gives it lift and brings it to a long, juicy finish.
