PRODUCT OVERVIEW:
Tasting notes from the winery:
Aromas of meyer lemon, lime peel, citrus blossom, wet sand, flavors include white peach with hints of sea salt, the texture is precise, the wine is balanced.
Diatom is named for the fossil-rich diatomaceous earth in which these vines grow. Diatoms are a plankton fossil found in the oceanic landscape of Santa Barbara County.
Diatom wines are motivated by the pursuit of subtraction and refinement: it is the polishing of a grain of rice until one has reached its ultimate inner core. Diatom strives for a recognition of place with as little disturbance, distraction or interference as possible.
The resulting wines have a sense of transparency and a purity of intent and purpose.
