Introduction:
The 2019 DuPuis Wines Pinot Noir Abel Vineyard is an exquisite expression of Anderson Valley terroir, showcasing elegance, purity, and depth. Crafted by Wells Guthrie, this single-vineyard Pinot Noir reflects the balance of bright red fruit, floral aromatics, and mineral-driven complexity that define the best cool-climate California pinots.

Terrior:
Sourced from Abel Vineyard in Anderson Valley, this pinot noir benefits from the region’s coastal influence. Cool Pacific breezes and morning fog preserve acidity and aromatic intensity. The vineyard’s rocky, well-draining soils contribute to the wine’s structure and refined tannins, enhancing its longevity and complexity.

Appearance:
Brilliant ruby red with slight garnet hues, reflecting both vibrancy and aging potential.

Nose:
Highly aromatic, with delicate notes of wild strawberries, red cherries, and pomegranate entwined with hints of rose petals, dried herbs, and a touch of crushed stone minerality.

Palate:
Medium-bodied with a silky, refined texture. Juicy red fruit flavors of cranberry, raspberry, and cherry are lifted by bright acidity, while fine-grained tannins provide structure. Layers of forest floor, tea leaves, and subtle spice add complexity, leading to a beautifully balanced and expressive wine.

Finish:
Long and graceful, with lingering red fruit, savory earthiness, and a refined mineral character.

Overall Impression:
A stunningly elegant and terroir-driven pinot noir that showcases the finesse and depth of Anderson Valley. While drinking beautifully now, this wine will continue to evolve over the next 7–10 years. Ideal pairings include roasted duck, mushroom risotto, grilled salmon, or aged cheeses.

Press:
93 points, Wine Enthusiast:
"An earthy, redwood-forest aroma and just-ripe red- and black-cherry flavors give this medium-bodied wine from the “deep end” of Anderson Valley an intriguing, moody effect as a smooth texture and light tannins add hefty touches in the mouthfeel. It's complex and substantive while staying elegant in its overall expression.
