Introduction:
The 2020 Frog’s Leap Winery Cabernet Sauvignon from Rutherford, Napa Valley, is a beautifully structured and terroir-driven expression of the region’s famed Cabernet. Known for its balance, finesse, and age-worthy character, this wine showcases classic Rutherford dust, bright acidity, and layered complexity that sets it apart from more opulent Napa Cabernets.

Terrior:
Sourced from organically farmed vineyards in the heart of Rutherford, this wine benefits from deep, well-drained alluvial soils and the area’s famed "Rutherford dust," which lends a distinctive earthiness and fine tannic structure. The warm days and cool nights ensure even ripening, preserving freshness while allowing for full phenolic development.

Appearance:
Deep ruby with garnet reflections, indicating youthful vibrancy with aging potential.

Nose:
Expressive aromas of blackcurrant, blackberry, cassis, and ripe plum, complemented by notes of cedar, tobacco leaf, graphite, and a touch of baking spice from oak aging.

Palate:
Medium to full-bodied with a refined structure. Flavors of dark berries, cherry, and plum are layered with savory elements of earth, dried herbs, cocoa, and subtle oak spice. The fine-grained tannins and vibrant acidity create a balanced and elegant mouthfeel.

Finish:
Long and graceful, with lingering notes of dark fruit, dried herbs, and Rutherford’s signature dusty minerality.

Overall Impression:
A classic and age-worthy Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon that emphasizes balance, restraint, and a sense of place over excessive ripeness or extraction. This wine will continue to evolve beautifully in bottle, making it an excellent choice for cellaring. Ideal with grilled meats, braised short ribs, or aged cheeses.

Press reviews:
94 points, Decanter:
"From the iconic Frog's Leap winery's dry-farmed estate in Rutherford, aged 20 months in 5-year-old oak barrels. Absolutely beautiful aromas of dried thyme, sage, fennel, spearmint, and savory black olive notes. Medium-bodied with the rustic, dusty tannins you'd expect from these Rutherford vines, with a harmonious display of brambly cranberry, raspberry, and black cherry laced with vanilla and tobacco spices. Just lovely."

91 points, James Suckling
"Aromas of crushed herbs, sliced plums, blackcurrant,s and violets. Full-bodied with powdery tannins. Bright acidity pairs nicely with the fresh red fruit on the palate."
