Introduction:
The 2020 Kaesler "The Bogan" Shiraz from Barossa Valley, Australia, is a robust and powerful red that exemplifies the bold character of old-vine Barossa Shiraz. Intense, structured, and layered, it’s a serious wine built for aging and rich pairings.

Terrior:
Grapes are sourced from estate vineyards in Marananga and Nuriootpa, with vines dating back to 1899 and 1965. The contrasting soil types—schist and clay in Marananga, loam over clay in Nuriootpa—add both elegance and depth to the final blend.

Appearance:
Deep ruby with a rich purple rim, dense and opaque.

Nose:
Powerful aromas of blackberry, dark cherry, and mulberry, underpinned by red peppercorn, star anise, and toasted oak. Notes of earth, espresso, and vanilla emerge with air.

Palate:
Full-bodied and concentrated, delivering layers of black fruit, olive tapenade, roasted spice, and dark chocolate. Firm but refined tannins and well-integrated oak create a broad, commanding mouthfeel.

Finish:
Long, dense, and spicy, with lingering black fruit, licorice, and subtle oak toast.

Overall Impression:
The 2020 “The Bogan” Shiraz is a striking and cellar-worthy expression of Barossa terroir. It’s unapologetically bold, with a rich texture and a confident structure that make it ideal for grilled meats, game, and robust fare.
