Introduction:
The 2022 Lapostolle Cuvée Alexandre Cabernet Sauvignon is a bold and sophisticated Chilean red that showcases the pedigree of the Apalta Valley. Combining ripe dark fruit with mineral, herbaceous, and spice-laced depth, this wine reflects both the power of the region and the finesse of attentive winemaking.

Terrior:
Sourced from estate vineyards in the prestigious Clos Apalta site within the Apalta Valley, Colchagua Valley. The vineyard is composed of decomposed granite and gravely loam soils with excellent drainage. Benefiting from a Mediterranean climate with hot days and cool nights, the region enables full ripening while maintaining vibrant acidity and structure. Old vines, some dating back to 1920, contribute complexity and concentration.

Appearance:
Deep ruby to inky purple with bright violet edges. The wine’s dense color and brilliant clarity suggest concentration and youth, emblematic of high-quality, well-extracted Cabernet Sauvignon.

Nose:
Aromatic intensity leads with cassis, blackberry, and dark plum. Accents of graphite, crushed rock, and dried herbs weave through, alongside hints of cedar, tobacco leaf, and dark chocolate. The oak is integrated and supportive, adding layers of spice and complexity without overpowering the fruit.

Palate:
Full-bodied and structured, with a dense core of blackcurrant, blackberry, and black cherry. Firm yet polished tannins provide grip and ageability, while underlying tones of forest floor, cocoa, and toasted spice lend savory depth. Balanced acidity lifts the palate, keeping the wine fresh despite its richness.

Finish:
Long and layered, the finish persists with notes of ripe dark fruit, minerality, and finely grained tannins. Herbal and earthy nuances linger, offering a well-rounded and satisfying conclusion.

Overall Impression:
The 2022 Lapostolle Cuvée Alexandre Cabernet Sauvignon is a serious, cellar-worthy wine that combines Chilean fruit purity with Old World elegance. Its deep concentration, refined structure, and layered complexity make it a standout for both immediate enjoyment and long-term aging. A benchmark Apalta Cabernet.
