20 minutes from Marseilles and situated alongside white cliffs that drop into the sea, the appellation of Cassis exits within a national park and, unlike most of Provence, produces mainly white wines. Clairette, bourbelanc, ugni blanc, and pascal blanc are the predominant grapes; the addition of the aromatic Rhône varietal marsanne to the mix, thanks to a winemaker named Pierre Imbert, has added depth and complexity to the white wines. Marsanne plays a pivotal role in today's offer; its heady aromatics and layered flavors jump out of the glass.

The 2023 Clos d'Albizzi Cassis Blanc is a blend of marsanne, ugni blnc, and clairette. Aromas of peaches, citrus fruits, and white flowers lead to a medium-bodied, almost creamy-textured palate of pears and peaches laced with honeysuckle, wet stone, lemon zest, and baking spices. The wine finishes long, with bright, balancing acidity.
