Introduction:
The 2019 Clos Erasmus is a powerful yet impeccably balanced expression of Priorat, one of Spain’s most prestigious wine regions. A blend of Garnacha and Syrah, this wine showcases intense concentration, minerality, and elegance, making it one of the most sought-after wines from Catalonia. Crafted by renowned winemaker Daphne Glorian, Clos Erasmus continues to set the standard for world-class Priorat.

Terrior:
Sourced from steep, low-yielding vineyards in Gratallops, the vines are rooted in Priorat’s signature llicorella (slate) soils. The extreme terroir, with its poor, rocky composition and dramatic temperature shifts between day and night, results in small, intensely flavored berries that contribute to the wine’s deep concentration and mineral backbone.

Appearance:
Opaque ruby with violet reflections, indicating youth and density.

Nose:
Highly aromatic and complex, with layers of ripe blackberries, dark cherries, and plums. Notes of lavender, dried herbs, and graphite emerge alongside hints of crushed violets, licorice, and well-integrated oak spice.

Palate:
Full-bodied with a luxurious yet structured mouthfeel. Ripe black and red fruit flavors are complemented by savory elements of crushed stone, rosemary, and cocoa. Silky but firm tannins provide incredible depth, while fresh acidity keeps the wine vibrant and well-balanced. The wine’s minerality and precision shine through, reflecting its llicorellaorigins.

Finish:
Exceptionally long and persistent, with lingering dark fruit, spice, and a striking mineral core that promises further evolution over time.

Overall Impression:
A masterpiece of power and elegance, the 2019 Clos Erasmus is a benchmark Priorat that will continue to evolve beautifully over the next 15–20 years. While already impressive, decanting is recommended to fully appreciate its depth and complexity. Ideal for pairing with grilled lamb, aged Manchego cheese, or rich Mediterranean dishes.
