PRODUCT OVERVIEW/REVIEW:
One of only two Spanish wine regions to hold the country's top-tier DOCa classification (similar in prestige to Italy's DOCG designation), the Priorat has a terroir ideal for grape cultivation: a hot, dry climate, wide diurnal temperature variations, and soil, known as llicorella, which is made from partially decomposed slate and quartz.
Today's wine is a custom cuvée from importer and consulting winemaker extraordinaire Eric Solomon. Coster dels Olivers is a blend of carinyena, garnacha, and cabernet sauvignon sourced from young vines and aged in seasoned French and Hungarian oak barrels for 12 months. Medium-to-full-bodied, it is loaded with ripe blackberry and cassis flavors undercut with notes of underbrush and wet stone. All this abundance is kept light on its feet with bright acidity that brings the wine to a long and satisfying finish. This wine is BOMB, people!
