PRODUCT OVERVIEW/REVIEWS:
Diego Conterno, whose family name is practically synonymous with GREAT Barolo, has been making wine for over 30 years. After establishing a successful winery in the historic village of Monforte d'Alba with his cousins, Claudio and Guido Fantino, Diego struck out on his own in 2000, building a winery in the center of the land that he knows intimately well and working vineyards that have been in his family for over four generations. The wines of Diego Conterno are THE REAL DEAL.

The 2019 Diego Conterno Barolo was sourced from Conterno's four vineyards in Monforte d’Alba: San Pietro, San Giovanni, Ginestra, and Pajana. Each vineyard has distinct characteristics that contribute to the final blend, making the wine greater than the sum of its parts. This is prime Barolo country, a place where the names on the wooden signs at the end of each row of vines display a veritable who's who of Barolo aristocracy.

92 points, Decanter Magazine:

"Drawn from four plots in Monforte, Diego Conterno's Barolo is proudly old-school, using cement tanks and large barrels. Fragrant, light aromas of hedgerow berries and a touch of earthiness lead to a vibrant palate with sapid red fruits and a hint of graphite supported by fine tannins and bright acidity. It's certainly not a blockbuster, instead trading on delicate aromatics and nuance of flavor, but it's a lovely Barolo to pair with roast beef or grilled portobello mushrooms. Classy." (8/15/23)

92 points, Jeb Dunnuck:
"An elegant style, the 2019 Barolo is balanced with spice and fruit, including anise, red raspberry, and orange. It has good balance and concentration, with charming appeal in its fine tannins and refreshing acidity without harshness. Fresh with cranberry cocktail, apricot, and dusty earth, it has a great finish and is an outstanding entry Barolo to drink over the coming 10 years." (5/4/23)
