PRODUCT OVERVIEW/REVIEWS:
The name Perrin is inextricably tied to the wines of the southern Rhône Valley, especially Châteauneuf-du-Pape. For five generations, the Perrins, under the family surname as well as the name Beaucastel, have been crafting wines that have served as benchmarks for other producers in the region. Their Châteauneuf-du-Papes in particular have received numerous accolades from the wine press and have a huge fan base among wine consumers.
Domaine Roger Perrin Châteauneuf-du-Pape is crafted from grenache blended with syrah, mourvèdre, cinsault, clairette, counoise, and vaccarèse. The vines are planted in the la Bertaude, Bois Lauzon, Cabrieres, and Chapouin lieux-dits. Between 30% to 40% of the grapes are destemmed. Vinification takes place in traditional cement vats, foudres, used oak barrels, and 15% new French oak barrels for an average of 15 months before bottling. The production hovers at close to 4,200 cases per year. (Wine Cellar Insider)

91 points, James Suckling:
"The striking nose of chocolate praline pulls you into this rich and weighty red, which also has an ample tannin structure. Good harmony and no hint of warmth from the alcohol. Plenty of dried rosemary and thyme character at the bold finish. A cuvee of 60% grenache, 15% syrah, 15% mourvedre, 5% cinsault, 3% clairette and 2% counoise. Drink or hold." (5/22/23)
