Fattoria Le Pupille is a family-owned estate managed by Elisabetta Geppetti and her daughter, Clara Gentili. The first woman in her family to run the winery, Elisabetta has carried on the traditions of her forebears while at the same time breaking new ground. In addition to becoming a world-class Super-Tuscan winemaker, she was instrumental in the establishment of Morellino di Scansano as a DOCG, putting this production zone on the world wine map alongside its more well-known Tuscan neighbors. 

Located in the Maremma region on the southern tip of Tuscany and on the Tyrrhenian Sea, Fattoria Le Pupille benefits from volcanic soil and hot, dry daytime weather balanced out by sea breezes that elicit significant swings in day-to-night temperatures. "Mesmerizing aromas of sandalwood, lavender, sage and currants. Mint and spearmint. Lead pencil shavings. Light coffee bean too. Medium to full body with ultra-fine tannins. It goes on for minutes. 60% cabernet sauvignon, 30% merlot, and 10% petit verdot. So approachable already, but this will age beautifully." (11/28/23)

"The Fattoria le Pupille 2021...offers seamless integration of dark fruit flavors that bleed directly into spice, Tuscan cigar, and earthy iris root. This vintage is compact and firm, especially in terms of mouthfeel, and there are graceful floral tones to close. The winery team has been tweaking the oak regime, landing on 60% to 65% new oak complemented by once-used barrels.
