PRODUCT OVERVIEW/REVIEW:
New Zealand natives Yolyn and Nick Goldschmidt are the owners behind today's offering. Nick has been a winemaker since 1982 and has an impressive resumé that includes stints at Babbich in New Zealand, Catena in Argentina, Caliterra in Chile, and Simi in Sonoma. Goldschmidt's wines are made to express their single-vineyard origins as well as pure varietal character.

Today's wine is a blend of 91% zinfandel and 9% petite sirah sourced from Goldschmidt's Railyard Estate Vineyard in Geyserville. Aged for 16 months in a combination of new and seasoned oak barrels, it is deep purple in color, with abundant aromas of dark, wild berries and warm spicy notes of cola and clove. Full-bodied and rich, this is a classic zinfandel offering deep, complex flavors of blueberry pie, wild blackberry preserves, and vanilla on a velvety smooth frame.*

92 points, James Suckling:
"Aromas of ripe plums, blackberries, and black cherries with notes of vanilla, chocolate, and licorice. Medium-bodied with a mild, creamy texture, velvety tannins, and fruit-driven character. Juicy and delicious. Drink or hold." (3/3/22)
