Glaetzer is a family-owned winery specializing in the production of world-class, artisanally-crafted Barossa wines. Sourcing all of their fruit from dry-farmed, old-vine plots in the sub-region of Ebenezer, they espouse the philosophy that a wine's character is determined by its terroir and that their job is to be stewards of the land and winemaking process.

Today's wine is a blend of 72% shiraz and 28% grenache from 50- to 100-year-old vines in Barossa's sub-region of Ebenezer. While the shiraz spent 16 months on a combination of seasoned American and French oak barrels, the grenache was unoaked in order to preserve its perfumed aromatics and vibrant fruit profile. "Dark magenta. A perfumed bouquet evokes ripe dark berries, candied flowers, and licorice, along with hints of cracked pepper and cured tobacco. Fleshy blackberry, cherry-cola, and floral pastille flavors show very good depth as well as energy and spicy lift. The clinging finish features fine-grained tannins and repeating floral and licorice notes."

"The 2017 Wallace Shiraz-Grenache blend is heavily weighted toward shiraz (as usual), but it's the grenache that makes itself known on the nose, adding lovely florals and raspberries to the slightly darker-toned fruit of the shiraz. Medium to full-bodied, this is supple yet crisp—perhaps a bit youthful and angular—but finishes with silky tannins and plenty of length."
