New Zealand natives Yolyn and Nick Goldschmidt are the owner/vintners behind today's offering. Nick has been a winemaker since 1982 and has an impressive resumé that includes stints at Babich in New Zealand, Catena in Argentina, Caliterra in Chile and Simi in Sonoma. Goldschmidt's wines are made to showcase single vineyard source wines that highlight the distinct characters, benefits and attributes derived from these site specific harvests.
Sourced from Staircase Vineyard in Sonoma's Alexander Valley, the 2023 Goldschmidt Vineyards Fidelity Red Wine is a blend of 76% Merlot, 12% Cabernet, 7% Petit Verdot, 3% Cabernet Franc, and 2% Malbec aged in a combination of new (15%) and seasoned French oak barrels. It is lush and expressive, with notes of black plums, blackberries, dark chocolate, white pepper, and savory spice on the nose and palate. It is full-bodied and silky from the initial sip through the long finish.

92 points, James Suckling:
"Aromas of blackberries, plums, licorice, cedar and a touch of cocoa. The palate is full-bodied with smooth, supportive tannins and fresh acidity, giving dark fruit, spices and a faint earthy touch. Rich yet balanced with freshness."
90 points, Wine Enthusiast:
"Aromas of candied cherry, raspberry, mint, and licorice drive the nose of this blend. The palate is chock full of drying tannin, with flavors of plum, cocoa, earth, and violets resonating through the finish."
