Marqués del Silvo Rioja Gran Reserva Rioja, Spain
Marqués de Silvo has roots in Rioja that preceded the region's recognition as an official DO and has been instrumental in establishing Rioja as a world-class wine destination. With 150 hectares of vineyards on the banks of the Ebro River, the winery has the viticultural gifts to produce wines that serve as standard bearers for the rest of the region.
The 2015 Marqués del Silvo Rioja Gran Reserva has aromas of floral-tinged red and black fruits and a medium-to-full-bodied palate of blackberry and black raspberries flanked by notes of licorice, wild herbs, and vanilla that unfold layer by glorious layer. Pliant tannins coexist with the vibrant fruit characters and bring the wine to a long finish.

Black cherry and cassis flavors hit the tastebuds first and are followed up by notes of anise, Chambord, and chocolate-covered mint.
