PRODUCT OVERVIEW:
Innovation and a passion for the Languedoc are what drive Jean-Claude Mas. Since taking the helm of his family’s winery in 2000, he has prioritized sourcing the highest quality grapes to craft wines of authenticity and refinement. His range of wines conveys the heritage, beauty, and unique terroir of this southern French region. Delicious and accessible, these magnificently charming wines embody Jean-Claude’s philosophy of "le luxe rural", or rural, everyday luxury. (importer notes)
Today's wine is crafted from 70% syrah and 30% grenache grown in clay/limestone soils that get plenty of sunshine and enjoy the cooling breezes of the Mediterranean. The syrah and grenache are vinified separately, each with about 8 days of skin contact. The grapes go through a pneumatic press; only the free-run juice from the first pressing is used in order to achieve a dark color and intense flavors in the finished wine.
Medium-to-full-bodied, the 2021 Domaines Paul Mas Côté Mas Rouge du Midi abounds with aromas and flavors of blackcurrants and cassis, with hints of licorice and baking spice on the palate. Balancing acidity appears on the mid-palate and brings it to a long finish. This wine is immensely gluggable and easy to love!

"Fruity and laid-back nose of cherries, raspberries, plums, and dried herbs. Medium-bodied, with velvety tannins. Textured and fruity, with a supple finish." (11/7/22)
