Introduction:
A compelling and structured Barolo from Piedmont’s Monforte d'Alba, the 2018 Pecchenino “Le Coste di Monforte”captures the power, elegance, and longevity of classic Nebbiolo with grace and depth.

Terrior:
Sourced from mid-slope vineyards in Monforte, nestled in calcareous clay and marl soils at 400–450 m elevation. The area experiences warm days and cool nights, fostering ripe phenolic development while preserving vibrant acidity and aromatic clarity.

Appearance:
Bright garnet with a ruby rim—clear and youthful, yet indicative of maturation under optimal conditions.

Nose:
Elevated and intricate, revealing rose petal, cherry compote, and tart red plum. Layers of dried herbs (sage, thyme), leather, tobacco leaf, and savory licorice emerge over time. Subtle aromas of tar, orange zest, and forest floor unfold with aeration.

Palate:
Full-bodied and concentrated, the palate presents intensely framed red fruit—sour cherry, raspberry, and cranberry—alongside mineral notes of crushed stone and iron. Firm, fine-grained tannins balance the richness, while vibrant acidity carries the core with elegance. Secondary nuances of leather, clove, and cocoa align with ancorelli structure.

Finish:
Long and resonant, with echoes of dried cherry, orange peel, and earthy spice fading into a mineral tail. The tannins and acidity sustain the precise finish.

Overall Impression:
This Barolo asserts itself with both power and finesse. Poised for aging over the next 10–15 years, it also delivers enjoyment now with decanting. Perfect with braised beef, roasted game, aged cheeses, or risotto with porcini mushrooms.
