PRODUCT OVERVIEW:
Poderi e Cantine Oddero has a history that dates back to the end of the 18th century when Giovanni Battista Oddero and his sons Lorenzo and Luigi began to make wine under their own name crafted from the nebbiolo varietal sourced from their vineyards in La Morra. They helped to lay the groundwork for the establishment of Piedmont as one of the world’s most revered wine regions.

The estate, under the guidance of current caretakers Giacomo and his daughters Mariavittoria and Mariacristina cultivates 35 hectares of the best cru of the Langhe and Asti territories to make some of Piedmont’s most renowned wines: Barolo, Barbaresco, Langhe Nebbiolo, Dolcetto d’Alba, Barbera d’Alba, Barbera d’Asti, and Moscato d'Asti.* The family’s philosophy that “quality reveals itself in the details” is manifested by their reverence for terroir, attention to every aspect of the winemaking process, and respect for modern production techniques.

The 2021 Oddero Barbera  d'Alba Superiore lives up to its predecessors. Exhibiting the luscious fruit characters and exceptional balance that one would expect to find in a well-crafted barbera and sourced from vineyards in La Morra and Castiglione Falletto, it is fermented in stainless steel and aged in large Slavonian oak barrels for 12 months. Medium-to-full-bodied, it has aromas of black cherries, black raspberries, and cassis that follow through on the palate. Accents of wet stone and vibrant acidity give the wine freshness while pliant tannins make it immensely gluggable. CERTIFIED ORGANIC.
