Husband and wife team Sara Pérez and René Barbier (Fils) are the children of two of the great pioneers of the Priorat D.O., Josep Lluis Pérez of Mas Martinet and René Barbier of Clos Mogador. They are very well-respected vignerons in their own right, so it seemed natural that they should start a project together. They decided to stake their claim in the sleepier D.O. of Monsant. Their wines are elegant and refined expressions of fruit from the appellation.*

The 2022 Sindicat La Figuera Garnatxa Negra is expressive and aromatic, with aromas of cherries, raspberries, wild strawberries, and violets that follow on the medium-bodied palate. The tannins are soft and well-integrated, giving the wine structure without being overly firm. Earthy undertones contribute to the wine’s sense of place, while subtle herbal and spice notes add layers of complexity.*

"La Figuera is a cooler village with the highest altitude in Montsant, and the wine shows freshness, even in this very warm year. It has ripe Garnacha aromas; the fruit is very different from the rest of Montsant, with more herbal notes, floral, aromatic, lighter, with a medium-bodied palate, weightless (good yields and short macerations), and very fine tannins. This is very easy to drink, a lighter and very approachable style of Montsant."
