Back in 1849, British beer brewer extraordinaire Sam Smith decided to expand his empire. With his family, he left the UK and set sail for Down Under in search of the perfect place to make...WINE! That's right, Sam Smith is the man behind the über successful Yalumba Winery, which has been at the forefront of Australian wine production for six generations.*

Yalumba’s longevity and success are a result of patience, collaboration, and progressive thinking. There is foresight to embrace the natural terroir to craft wines with individual character and a sense of purpose, a spirit to reinvest in the land upon which it operates, and knowledge to behave as a leader in the industry. Yalumba is committed to sharing stories of provenance gathered over more than 168 years of history of family winemaking.*

Sourced from gnarled old bush vine vineyards planted between 1920 and 1976 and aged for 10 months in seasoned French oak casks, today's wine has "aromas of dark cherries and raspberry amid a floral, spicy background. Time in the glass reveals orange zest, lavender, and a tantalizing hint of herbs de Provence. This seductive grenache balances fruit characters, spices, silky tannins, and lively acidity." *

92 points, Australian Wine Companion:
"Yalumba does grenache very well, from its entry-level wines to its flagship Tri-Centenary offering. The Samuels collection makes use of one of the Barossa's greatest resources: old bush-vine grenache. It's perfumed and lifted with spicy, plummy fruits, a splash of raspberry coulis, and plenty of purple floral and gingery spice tones. Purely fruited with plenty of space and inherent drinkability, it's great to see grenache has become 'the next big thing', and for all its pure, joyous fruit, it's easy to see why. Great value here."

91 points, Wine Enthusiast Magazine:
"This is an aromatic grenache with a perfume of ripe strawberry and cranberry fruit and a little spice and florals. The palate is mid-weight, fresh, and silky with succulence amid a powerful frame of spicy, granular tannins. Elegant and easy-drinking.

90 points, James Suckling:
"A sassy, delicious, full-weighted grenache built for imminent approachability. Kirsch, Seville orange zest, clove, and just a whiff of Aussie tea tree and scrub at the back end. I'd chill this slightly. The sort of wine to grace the table on a daily basis."
