Production & Aging: Taconic Distillery's Cask Strength Straight Rye Whiskey is crafted from a mash bill of 95% rye and 5% malted barley. The whiskey is aged for a minimum of two years in new charred American oak barrels, utilizing a unique maturation process where barrels are aged in shipping containers exposed to significant temperature fluctuations. This method enhances the movement of the spirit in and out of the barrel staves, developing complex flavors. The whiskey is bottled at cask strength without chill filtration to preserve its natural character.
Distinctive Characteristics: Despite its youth and high proof, this rye whiskey exhibits a smooth and sweet profile. The use of limestone-rich artisanal water imparts an extra layer of buttery sweetness, while the high rye content delivers bold, warm, spicy notes characteristic of the style.
Ideal Serving Suggestions: Enjoy neat to experience its full intensity, or add a few drops of water to open up the flavors. Its robust spice and sweetness also make it an excellent base for classic rye cocktails such as the Manhattan or Old Fashioned.
