PRODUCT OVERVIEW/REVIEWS:
Roederer Estate is the American offshoot of France's Champagne Louis Roederer. Jean-Claude Rouzaud, the current caretaker of this fifth-generation, family-owned winery, long wanted to find property in the USA with the terroir suitable for sparkling wine made in the Roederer style; his years-long search culminated in the discovery and acquisition of land in Mendocino County's Anderson Valley, 125 miles north of San Francisco. Here, the cool climate, well-drained soils, and proximity to the ocean provide the perfect growing conditions that allow for the slow ripening of grapes and the development of full varietal character.

The Anderson Valley Estate Brut is made with approximately 60% chardonnay and 40% pinot noir; French oak-aged wines from past reserve vintages are added each year to add depth and complexity. Unlike many other estates, Roederer eschews the purchase of fruit from other properties, using grapes exclusively from their own vineyards to ensure that only juice of the highest quality makes it into their final blends. The wine is lees-aged for two years and displays heady aromas and flavors of apples, pears, hazelnuts, and baking spices, with a touch of brioche.

94 points, Decanter:
"Always a solid wine from Anderson Valley, this NV is built of 60% chardonnay and 40% pinot noir and offers pretty lemony and lemon oil notes atop a bed of fragrant white flowers. Very round and complete with an assertive mousse, just-baked bread, and bruised yellow apple fruit. This bubbly has excellent depth and a terrific mineral finish." (3/30/23)

93 points, James Suckling:
"Aromas of pie crust with hints of nuts and cooked apple...Medium to full body with notes of seashell, cooked apple, and lemon rind." (12/7/23)

92 points, Robert Parker:
"The NV Estate Brut is scented of lemon, almonds, and biscuits with flinty touches. The medium-bodied palate is rounded and creamy with a bright, lemony character and a long, mineral-driven finish." (7/14/22)
