Château de Sales is located in the north-west of the Pomerol appellation. With 47.6 hectares (117 acres) under vine, it is the largest vineyard in the Pomerol appellation. The majority of vines are merlot (73%), which, combined with cabernet sauvignon (15%) and cabernet franc (12%), finds its full expression in a terroir of clay, gravel, and heat-retaining sand.*
2022 was an outstanding vintage in Pomerol, and it shows in today’s wine. A blend of 83% merlot, 12% cabernet sauvignon, and 5% cabernet franc aged for 12-18 months in a combination of new and seasoned French oak barrels, it has seductive aromas of black cherries, violets, and vanilla. Richly flavored and remarkably well-balanced, it opens with notes of blackberries, cassis, black cherries, and subtle notes of baking spices that fill out an ample mid-palate, with refined, silky tannins and a long, elegant finish.*

"Vivid purple color in the glass, aromatic, perfumed nose with soft floral flecks and concentrated fruit. Chewy, bright, forward, and focused...a streamlined nature keeps the focus and drive, but still with volume to the mid-palate. Feels quite serious and a touch compact right now, lovely definition though, and a cool strawberry, blueberry juiciness that nicely contrasts the clear structure and density. Well-controlled, mouth-filling...with appealing
plumpness and sense of life.
