PRODUCT OVERVIEW:
Viré Clessé, located in Burgundy's Mâconnais region, was part of the Mâcon AOC until 1999, when it received the recognition it deserved and was granted its own DOC status - thanks in large part to the pioneering efforts of Domaine André Bonhomme. Its unique terroir, which is characterized by white and red clay on limestone rock and its proximity to the Saône River, brings forth Chardonnays that rival their counterparts from their more prestigious neighbors in Beaune. Wines form Viré Clessé demonstrate that it certainly pays to go off-the-beaten-path when looking for well-priced, quality juice. We definitely hit the jackpot every time we come across Viré-Clessé wines!

The "Cuvée Spéciale" is lees-aged and vinified in a combination of seasoned oak and stainless steel vats for 12 months. Rich and round, it offers aromas and flavors of lemon zest, Golden Delicious apple, peaches, and tropical fruits. On the palate, these flavors are accented by notes of stony minerality and hazelnut, with racy acidity bringing the wine to a long and satisfying finish.
