PRODUCT OVERVIEW/REVIEW:
Lapostolle was founded by Alexandra Marnier Lapostolle and her husband Cyril de Bournet in 1994. Since the early 19th century, both of their families have been dedicated to the production of spirits and fine wines. After visiting Chile, Alexandra and Cyril not only fell in love with the Apalta Valley, but they also realized the enormous potential of the region to produce high-quality wines due to its exceptional geographical characteristics. They became pioneers in the Chilean wine industry and today, under the guidance of present-day leader Charles de Bournet, the winery continues to elevate the region with a strong emphasis on sustainability. (importer notes)
Today's wine is a blend of 85% cabernet sauvignon, 7% cabernet franc, 4% merlot, and 4% petit verdot fermented in stainless steel and aged for 14 months in a combination of new and seasoned French oak barrels. Full-bodied and lushly textured, it has aromas and flavors of cassis, blackberries, and black cherries laced with hints of cedar, vanilla, and herbs. The silky texture is balanced by firm yet pliant tannins that carry the wine to a long finish.

94 points, James Suckling:
"A rich and deep expression of blackcurrants and blackberries with hints of red chili pepper, tobacco, and cocoa powder, following through to a full body with powerful but fine, seamless tannins. A dash of petit verdot here. Compact and bright. Drink or hold." (12/13/22)
