PRODUCT OVERVIEW/REVIEW:
The Dão is located in north central Portugal and is one of the oldest wine regions in the country. Situated on a plateau and surrounded on three sides by mountain ranges, the Dão is comprised of sandy, well-drained soils with schist and granite and has a climate characterized by cold, wet winters and hot, dry summers. This terroir yields wines that are elegant, complex, and well-balanced. Today's offering is a stellar representation of the wines that are coming out of this historic region.

Quinta de Cabriz is located between the two main rivers that cross the Dão region, the Mondego and the Dão. It is a secular “quinta” (farm) so along with a 17th-century manor house there is also a chapel.
This is one of the most famous “quintas” of the Dão region, with 38 hectares of vineyards and a winery equipped with the most modern technology. (Wines of Portugal)

The 2015 Quinta de Cabriz Tinto Special Edition is a blend of native varietals touriga nacional, alfrocheiro, and aragonêz aged for 12 months in a 50/50 combination of new and second-use oak barrels. Full-bodied and silky-smooth, it has aromas and flavors of red and black fruits laced with notes of baking spice, vanilla, and toast.
