Seghesio Family Vineyards was established in 1895, when an Italian immigrant and his new wife planted zinfandel vines deep in Sonoma soil and set down roots that, five generations and 125 vintages later, are still growing strong. The family remains dedicated to the preservation of old vines because of their capacity to make truly extraordinary wines with incredible concentration, complexity, and intrigue. Though their yields may be low, old vines provide reliable and excellent quality fruit that elevates the profile of their cuvées.*
The 2022 Seghesio Family Vineyards Sonoma County Zinfandel, blended with a touch of petite sirah and alicante bouschet, was sourced from vineyard blocks in Sonoma Valley, Russian River Valley, Alexander Valley, and Dry Creek Valley. Aged for 10 months in 7% new American oak and 93% neutral French and American oak barrels, it "captivates with a complex fusion of blackberry, black currant, plum, cherry, and baking spice aromas. Its lively palate showcases succulent fruit interwoven with supple tannins, persisting from mid-palate to a gratifying finish." (winery tasting notes)
