Teeling Single Grain whiskey was released to the U.S. market a few years later in 2015 with a mash bill comparable to bourbon, with 95% corn and 5% malted barley. Triple distilled in a column still to 46% and aged in French oak formerly used to age California cabernet, Teeling single grain has a comparable texture and sweetness to bourbon, yet takes on a subtle tannic red berry component thanks to the choice in casking.

The word "whiskey" can actually be traced to the Irish Gaelic "uisce beatha," which means "water of life" in English or "eau de vie" in French. In the 12th century, the Irish utilized perfume distillation techniques to create early whiskeys, which were not aged and often flavored with mint, thyme, or anise. Irish Mist is a modern day attempt to recreate this original spirit.

Walter Teeling established the first Teeling distillery in 1782 right in the heart of Dublin. Irish whiskey was once the most popular spirit in the world, with twenty eight distilleries in the 1890's, but by 1966 the number had dwindled to just two. Luckily, the bolstered popularity of Irish whiskey in recent decades has infused life into the industry, and it is now one of the fastest growing spirit markets in the world. Jack and Stephen Teeling opened the newest Teeling facility in 2015, the first distillery built in the city of Dublin in 125 years.

Requirements for Irish whiskey classification are not particularly stringent. In order to be categorized as an Irish whiskey, the mash bill must include malted barley, distillation and aging must occur on the island of Ireland, the spirit must be matured in wooden casks smaller than 700 liters for at least three years, and the final poof must be at least 80.

Teeling Single Grain whiskey is a lighter style whiskey with a silky mouthfeel and a lengthy development in the glass. Spice and fruit from the cabernet barrels intermingle with the subtle sweetness present due to the abundance of corn in the mash bill.
