PRODUCT OVERVIEW:
Christiane and Alain Robert were born into families of farmers and winegrowers. In 1973, they founded their own estate with two hectares of vineyards in the village of Chançay, which is part of the Vouvray appellation area, in the heart of the Loire Valley.*
In 2000 their son Cyril, enriched by experiences in Champagne and Anjou, joined the estate to assist his parents while bringing his personal touch to vineyard management and wine production.*
In 2013 Catherine, Cyril’s sister, joined the company after 10 years spent working on the left bank of the Loire alongside Jacky Blot (Domaine de la Taille aux Loups), then in the group of winegrowers ‘Bouquet de Loire’.*
Today, the family has 37 hectares (92.5 acres) of vineyards planted to chenin blanc in soils comprised of clay, limestone, and flint, in the villages of Chançay and Noizay. Since their modest beginnings, they have crafted wines that are some of the finest expressions of chenin blanc and Vouvray terroir.*
The 2021 Alain Robert Vouvray "Les Charmes" is a dry wine crafted from 100% chenin blanc from 30-40-year-old vines. Aged on the lees for 6 months in barrels prior to bottling, it is lushly textured, with aromas of white flowers and stone fruits followed by a palate redolent with flavors of peaches, pears, apples, and quince laced with accents of tropical fruits and wet stone. Refreshing acidity adds balance and brings it to a long finish.
